Daniel holds a Master of Library and Information Studies (MLIS) from UBC, where he developed an interest in technology and its potential to create meaningful connections between diverse groups; in libraries, between staff and users; in health care, between patients and providers, researchers and policy-makers. His work for the eHealth Strategy Office spans communications projects employing a variety of media: print, audio, video, and social. He works across all the office’s projects to encourage open and consistent communication about their goals and progress, and meets with staff, partners, and stakeholders to discuss ways to continually improve external awareness of all the great work happening at the eHealth Strategy Office.

Before joining the eHealth Strategy Office, Daniel held positions with the UBC Biomedical Branch Library and the Canadian Interprofessional Health Collaborative. His research interests include health information delivery, health literacy and communication, mobile health, and social media. Daniel has given talks on using social media in various aspects of health and medicine, including evidence-based practice, and consumer health. He is a regular contributor to the Twitter community of Health Care and Social Media in Canada (#hcsmca) and you can find him on Twitter at @danhooker.
